Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture
What is Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture?
Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture (FRA) is a non-invasive and safe treatment to reduce the signs of ageing, and treats dull/dry skin, sagging skin, dark circles, fine lines/wrinkles and acne. The goal of the treatment is not only to resolve problems at the surface, but also to address the internal imbalance causing the problem, which is often digestive, hormonal or related to the effects of stress.
How does it work?
Based on the principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine, very thin needles are inserted into the acupuncture points of the face and body. Stimulation of the points creates a variety of effects including increased blood flow to the face, facilitation of nutrient absorption, stimulation of collagen production, smoothing of wrinkles and tonification of the facial muscles.
What can I expect from my first Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture appointment?
Prior to the treatment, Dr. Aisha Manji, ND will complete a detailed health history, a complaint-oriented physical exam, and will review your medications, supplements, topical creams and any allergies you may have, to ensure that FRA is safe and indicated for you. Treatment is individualized based on the assessment of your skin. Dr. Aisha will explain your treatment strategy, the treatment itself and will answer any questions you may have. Personalized post-treatment care along with diet and lifestyle care will also be discussed.
Your face will be cleansed and prepped for the treatment. About 20-30 very thin needles will be inserted into specific acupuncture points on the face and body depending on your specific health concerns. Needle insertion is described as a small tap, and after the needle is in, it is practically un-noticeable. The treatment is quite relaxing and is followed by gua sha technique, a refreshing jade roller technique, as well as acupressure massage to the face and scalp.
If any of the following apply to you, you are not a candidate for FRA:
